Merry Christmas & Prosperous 2022

What an awesome year 2021 has been so far…Peace on Earth

Well, Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays. As we quickly approach the end of 2021…here are some highlights. The year started with a new job for my business and life partner. In addition, there were application deadlines to meet as our son had graduation on the line for June. High school applications were flying left and right and more. At the end of it all, a great vote of thanks to his former teachers who gave him great recommendations.

We had plans to send our son home for a rite of passage. Yes! a lot was going on. Our daughter on the other hand was quickly mastering her piloting skills. She had an opportunity to showcase her Flight School during the Black History Month… https://abc7ny.com/amp/sisters-of-the-skies-aviation-diversity-eagle-flight-squadron-women-pilots/10410644/ She had a NASA flight camp over the summer as well as a week of OBAP training camp. Now she is busy applying for college. Time flies!

One early April morning an unexperienced driver hit our car causing it to flip over. A few injuries from the impact but a lot of thanks to God for saving me. I was left very shaken…and still nursing some of the injuries…but what still beats me is how often insurance companies are happy taking your money…but so slow when it comes to making valid claims’ payments. We live and learn. Live goes on! That’s picture of me, still smiling, still very grateful.

A hiatus at the work from home for my partner lead to a job loss. Interestingly, it was a relieve in disguise. More so we were not worried. We had built a side business that has continued to do very well. What is great about it, we built it at the convenience of our free time. Therefore, should you be thinking to turn a green leaf in 2022, and start a “work from home” business, don’t hesitate to reach out. We will happily share what we do for “to whom much is given, much is expected.

That’s picture of her in a blue dress is from a while back…she may look younger, but she actually looks so. she discovered a line of natural beauty products which have worked wonders for her…that’s her secret, DM and ask her. She will happily share. (Aside: I find myself sneaking into her beauty cabinet and supplement drawer and ‘sharing’ some of these great products…until I get caught and have to happily replace…LOL)

Our son graduated and took a successful trip to the Motherland. We lost my dad. However, when I sat back to contemplate the orderliness of the events, I could not help but see the Hand of God in it all. So, I had a strange sense of peace and contentment in my heart. A lot of our friends supported us and comforted us. Wow! thank you all. We sympathize with so many other families that have lost a loved one. Especially, noted too was the passing of ‘our American grandpa. May their souls rest in peace.

That is a picture of our son from his graduation dinner. Talking of orderliness, my partner got another job…a better job and a friendly work environment. Thanks be to God…for when one door closes…another opens, but only and only if, you entrust all to God. For every adversity carries with it a seed of equal or greater opportunity.

Our youngest daughter discovered a hidden talent…she’s a cat whisperer! No kidding. We had taken a bike stroll, when we can across a cat. She started meowing and the cat responded by rolling and turning like a wind vane in a tornado. Yet, when I tried, the cat just stared at me like ‘No comprendo.’ If your cat needs a little chat, negotiate with our youngest daughter. she does not come cheap though. Indeed, her relationship with Angel (Cat in the picture) is very interesting. You will meet them sleeping on the floor looking at each other and more. I still argue though that Angel likes me the most.

Our son started high school. Our youngest changed schools and our oldest daughter completed 40 flight hours inching closer and closer to her first solo flight. We achieved a level in the business that qualified us for a trip to Kalahari. More so, we have been blessed to be graced by many great people. This has changed our mindset and propelled us to heights we knew not… 2022 is looking great and fabulous. Someone has been accepted to a couple colleges already…and much more. We at DR&KIDS wish you all esteemed customers, friends and family a Merry Christmas and a prosperous 2022. Together, we stand stronger and achieve more…

eSpring UV water purifier

eSpring UV Water Purifier

#helpstop1000000plasticwaterbottles from going into the dump in 2021! Are you in for the challenge? (Each cartridge ~ 10000 bottles)

I don’t usually blog about products or goods but this one I need too. We have lived in The Oranges for over 10 years now. Early on, we noticed we did not like the taste of the tap water. Consequently, we invested in a water purifier system and that did not work for us. The tap water still had a taste we did not like.

We therefore decided to buy drinking water but still used the tap water to cook and wash. Recently, we had a water demo done for us and we got a whole lot of information. We realized that the failure of the prior purification system may have been due to pharmaceutical impurities in our tap water. You can see what other impurities are in your tap water by clicking on this link and enter your zip code; https://www.ewg.org/tapwater/

We got introduced to the eSpring UV water purifier system. We bought an under the counter unit that I happily installed (am handy- LOL) The installation was a DIY project I had to buy a 3 way pipe adapter from Home Depot. Being a scientist by education, I tested the system by having our youngest daughter do a taste test. I served her two cups of water, one, straight from the tap, the other, from the eSpring purifier system. Her reaction was priceless. The city tap water she immediately frowned upon sipping it and gave me a dreaded look, and the water through the eSpring unit, she drank the entire cup.

Yes! The eSpring water purifier is phenomenal (click on the image to learn more). An added benefit, we have now also reduced our carbon footprint. We do not have as much plastic to recycle anymore, that’s 10000 plastic water bottles less in the dump every year! More so, we freely enjoy a cup of drinking water by heading to the kitchen sink and just turning the eSpring faucet on!

Now over to you…with all the recent news of lead in drinking water for some towns, what are you doing to take control of the situation in your tap water? We cannot always rely on the Government to do everything, we too need to take action to protect our health and safety!

Money For A New House?

The kids want a new house. It comes as no surprise since as they grow, they want more room and comfort. It so happens, we saw a house in the neighborhood that looks gorgeous. More so, it has enough rooms and amenities to fit their taste.

Long and behold, the kids held a secret meeting and decided among themselves to find means to raise money to help us (Parents) towards buying the house. The kids know how much the down payment is $67K, thanks for the internet. They put a plan in action. Our son usually get his homework package for the entire week on Mondays. So his older sibling, took his package, solved all the problems and gave him a sheet with the answers to go sell to his peers.  He went along with the plan and luckily got caught by the teacher. (Notice I say LUCKILY)

Their ingenious plan finally came to our notice. For one, as parents we could see where they were coming from. However, the means were not good. We sat down with them and explained that anytime you sell something to anyone, it has to have more value in the life of the buyer than the money they receive. In other words, it needs to help the buyer more that the money they pay for it. Consequently, selling answers was wrong in all means since the buyers would not benefit academically.

They quickly realized their fault and apologized. Their hope to get the house is still alive. Indeed, our youngest one drew a picture of it in rainbow colors which are her favorite. Every time we have a chance, they ask if we can drive by the house so that they can look at it. The for sale sign is still out on the front yard…their prayers will be answered…I believe so. How are your 2021 goals coming along? Did you write them down?
